JPNSGRLS Announce Tour Dates
JPNSGRLS U.S. TOUR DATES TO CMJ AND BEYOND
CIRCULATION OUT NOW ON LIGHT ORGAN RECORDS
“With the manic drive and creativity of the Dillinger Escape Plan at its best, the Vancouver-based JPNSGRLS craft a pop-punk gem in Circulation.” – PopMatters
“With its knotty guitar lines, frantic half-sung/half-shouted vocals, and slightly dirty production, the album easily conjures up the sounds of Modest Mouse mixed with the dramatic sensibilities of Spoon.” – AllMusic
Vancouver quartet JPNSGRLS (pronounced “Japanese Girls”) released their debut full-length earlier this year and will be making their maiden voyage to the East Coast next week to showcase at CMJ. Circulation was produced by Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat, Fur Trade, Mounties) and mastered by Greg Calbi (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys) and has critics referring to the Canadian emo-punks as, “Dinosaur Jr. on a speed binge with Hot Hot Heat.” (Crave Online)
JPNSGRLS lit up the West Coast on their first US tour in August and left a path of destruction and praise behind. The Sacramento Bee said they have, “The feel of the fellas from the Mars Volta / At The Drive-In camp slugging beers and whiskey in the garage and making a pact not to overthink it, instead going full bore on the amps to craft up a club-crunching rock record with shades of Hot Hot Heat that sets the stage for big things to come.” The Bend Bulletin asserts, “This band melds lightning-fast punk riffs with melodic intensity and a creative lyricism that’ll make you want to actually listen to the words, not just bob your head and jackhammer dance till your knees go numb, though you may want to do that, too.”
Circulation was tracked in just seven days with the band eschewing unnecessary frills in favor of electrifying live energy. The results are focused and cohesive while still retaining JPNSGRLS’ signature eclecticism. This less-is-more approach makes Circulation a whirlwind of straight-out-of-the-garage noisiness and earworm hooks.
