Josef Salvat’s “Open Season” Goes To Fader
JOSEF SALVAT PREMIERES NEW TRACK “OPEN SEASON” VIA FADER
Last month Josef Salvat posted “Shoot and Run,” a tantalizing preview of what’s to come from his debut EP, In Your Prime, out September 22nd. As with the handful of songs previously posted by Josef (“Hustler,” “Every Night,” “This Life”) “Shoot and Run” received plaudits from tastemakers across the board and now, following that comes another brand new offer, “Open Season,” an expansive, infectious pop tune that oozes soul beneath tingling synth riffs.
FADER premiered the track yesterday, here is what they had to say: “Josef Salvat, the London-based singer-songwriter with an ear for pop hooks, just dropped “Open Season.” The track, streaming below, is brimful of the honeyed goals and pulsating rhythms we couldn’t get enough of on “Hustler,” but Salvat mixes things up from that brooding early track with a faster, foot-tapping, even wider-reaching pop sound. With its crooning about re-tangling strayed paths and faith, “Open Season” offers up the perfect prelude to Salvat’s eagerly anticipated In Your Prime EP which drops Monday via Columbia.”
The complete EP also includes “Shoot and Run,” previous online favorite “This Life” and a beautiful stripped back version of Rihanna’s “Diamonds.”
Having already garnered praise from the likes of Pitchfork, FADER, Disco Naïveté and radio tastemakers with his initial breakthrough success last year, the Australia born, London-based artist continues to impress with his swelling electro-pop sounds.
Salvat’s intimate lyricism, distinct turn of phrase and dark melodies have already secured him a Hypemachine #1 with “Hustler,” over 1.5 million Soundcloud plays and close to one million YouTube views. Now, with the release of his new EP this month and an album set to come early 2015 Josef is quickly emerging as an artist to watch over coming months.
