MusicRow Chart

JOHNNY ORR BAND takes the global audience “Down South” today with an exclusive video premiere on THE BOOT. Directed by Paul Frateschi (ESPNU, UNCTV, WRAL) for Drawbridge and produced by Shale Martin and Johnny Orr, the video immediately immerses the viewer in all things “Southern.” The smell of fried chicken and the flavor of baked beans and tart greens is almost tangible as family and friends gather ’round the table. There is an instant feel of camaraderie, of vibrancy and community. Shot primarily at the Clayton, North Carolina home of John & John Entertainment CEO Shale Martin, a no-holds-barred pool party plays a central role.

“Family and friends are what this song is about,” Martin notes. “We had no concrete plans for the video, but wanted to include everyone who has played a part in JOB’s success.” Martin’s 10th annual Shale-ah-Palooza bash seemed to offer the right mix of location and vibe. Orr says with a laugh, “We cheated! Beer, food, Cornhole, and a damn good time are standard fare at this party.” This was no set up; only the dinner scene, the bus (on loan from Camping World of Garner, NC), and a few ‘real’ actors were needed to make the video complete.

Appearing as Johnny’s girlfriend is singer/actress/99.3 FM & 620 AM “The Buzz” radio personality Shelley Jaye “TheBombshell” Ward, while Susan and Martin Wells portray the mother and father. Martin family members featured include Lil’ Shale, Shannon and diving board diva Shayanne. Johnny’s real-life girlfriend, Lindsay Wood, enjoys a cameo role as does the pristine red and white ’64 Chevrolet pickup mentioned in the song. JOB band members (Gino Lattarulo/guitars, Jack Getz/bass, Ricky Keen/slide guitar, Tony Williams/drums) appear throughout.

Written by Orr, “Down South” debuts at #78 on the current MusicRow Chart. It is the title track from JOB’s current EP for John & John Entertainment. The group’s first Country radio release, the single follows “We’ll Get By (The Autism Song),” a song that has generated a passionate discourse within – and beyond – the Autism community. The “We’ll Get By” video has logged nearly 183,000 YouTube hits, and a portion of the song’s proceeds benefit Blooming With Autism. The disc is available at iTunes.

Active since 2007, JOB has become synonymous with a “rough and ready” Southern Rock/Country sound. The band has opened for Kenny Chesney, the Zac Brown Band, Little Big Town, Gretchen Wilson, Parmalee, Cole Swindell, Tyler Farr, Jason Michael Carroll and more.
