Jim Photoglo’s Halls Of My Heart Strong On Folk Radio

JIM PHOTOGLO’S HALLS OF MY HEART DOMINATES FOLK RADIO IN AUGUST

#1 SONG, #3 ALBUM, THREE TOP 20 TRACKS AND FOURTH MOST-PLAYED ARTIST ON THE FOLK DJ RADIO PLAYLIST

Folk singer/songwriter Jim Photoglo’s new album, Halls of My Heart, dominated the August Folk DJ Radio Playlist. In its first month, the album charted at #3, “Try Me Tomorrow” was the #1 song, three tracks charted in the Top 20 (“Try Me Tomorrow,” “Brothers Medley,” and “Halls of My Heart”) and Photoglo was the #4 most-played artist.

“I strived to be honest and explore some very personal experiences while writing this album,” Photoglo said. “It’s especially meaningful, then, to have these songs and this album impact folk radio so decisively in its first month. It validates the emotion and the effort.”

Halls of My Heart opens with a call to put aside one’s troubles in the Celtic-flavored Try Me Tomorrow. The lilting Liliana pays tribute to his nature-loving wife, while In My Father’s Son explores Photoglo’s troubled relationship with his father. The driving Brown-Eyed Boy celebrates the immigrants who’ve helped make this country strong, while Brothers Medley (a Staples Singers-style a cappella number), pays respect to Jim’s musical heroes.

After a solo pop career (featuring the hits We Were Meant To Be Lovers and Fool in Love With You), Photoglo moved to Nashville in 1984 to concentrate full-time on songwriting. Among his cuts are the #1 singles Fishin’ In The Dark by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Hometown Honeymoon by Alabama. In the 90s, Photoglo, Russell Smith (The Amazing Rhythm Aces), Bernie Leadon (The Eagles) and hit-songwriter Vince Melamed formed the cult band Run C&W. Around the same time, he co-founded the band the Vinyl Kings, formerly known as The Fabulous Del-Beatles. Photoglo has released three previous CDs on Grifftone Records: Fly Straight Home, Sparks in the Radio (#30 on the Folk DJ Best Albums of 2005 list), and the #1, GRAMMY-nominated album Is It Me?
