“With the rapidly changing landscape of the music industry, artists are faced with two choices – evolve, or fade away. Jade Starling, of the 80s group Pretty Poison, chose the former, and it’s put her right in the middle of today’s vibrant EDM scene.” – Arena.com

America loves a comeback, and while this is really a “re-introduction,” the fact is this: JADE STARLING, best known as the vocalizing half and award-winning songwriter of the platinum-selling duo Pretty Poison (#1 hit “Catch Me I’m Falling” on Virgin Records), is charting high on the Billboard Dance charts for the first time in 26 years.

More to the point, “Think About U,” the 2nd single from the flame-tressed diva’s acclaimed debut solo album, CAPTIVE (Subpoena/Universal), has cracked the Top 15 on the Billboard Dance chart. “’Think About U,’ hit #14, the highest position Starling has experienced on that chart since her No. 1 Dance hit, “When I Look Into Your Eyes,” from Pretty Poison’s platinum Catch Me, I’m Falling album.

Indeed, Starling is quite proud of her milestone achievement.

“’Captive,’ as a whole, is a very current album,” she notes. “And because it was my first solo effort, it was especially important to keep the sound relevant. That’s one of the reasons we decided to work with Lee Dagger, who has recently enjoyed No. 1 success on the dance charts. ’Think About U’ is a great, well-crafted song, and not only does it fit right in with the EDM movement, but also blends well with the pop sensibilities I’ve always strived to maintain with my longtime Pretty Poison collaborator, Whey Cooler.”

Starling’s re-introduction to the dance floors prompted Download.com to proclaim “now a new generation of club kids can fall in love” with her, and Arena.com to note that Starling’s decision to “evolve” has “put her right in the middle of today’s vibrant EDM scene.”

OK!TV, the nationally syndicated entertainment and gossip show, hosted the world premiere of the “Think About U” music video, and hosted Starling as a guest to talk about CAPTIVE and show an exclusive sneak peak clip. Other interviews include Premiere Radio Networks, Westwood One Radio Network, and Associated Press Broadcast Network.

Critical buzz continues to mount for Starling, whose dance-smart album was hailed as a “masterpiece” by AXS.com, and whose “voice is amazing,” on CAPTIVE, declared ArtistDirect. The Knoxville News-Sentinel praised the radio-friendly, pop-oriented tracks dominating [the album,] Starling’s naturalistic vocals give a touch of humanity” to CAPTIVE’s first single, “the explosive ‘Insomniak,’” which hit Top 30 on the Billboard Dance chart. TheTrenton (NJ) Times cheered the album’s “poppy backbone,” “big beats” and “strong groove” while JoelGausten.com proclaimed it “The Perfect Album. … Best Dance Album of 2014.”

“Think About U,” was produced by Lee Dagger of the hugely successful English remix team Bimbo Jones (Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kylie Minogue). CAPTIVE also features collaborations with newcomer Laszlo (Selena Gomez, Kelly Clarkson, Justin Bieber & Nicki Minaj) and French DJ/remixer Franck Dona (Universal France).

“I’ve been doing what I always do, writing, touring and performing,” she insists. “It’s not a comeback. We never left. It’s just a re-introduction. And this is why it’s a Jade Starling record, and not a Pretty Poison record.”
