HURRAY FOR THE RIFF RAFF ON TOUR NOW

TWO SOLD OUT NYC DATES, OUTSIDE LANDS, BONNAROO + MORE

WATCH HURRAY PERFORM “THE BODY ELECTRIC” LIVE AT THE 2014 AMERICANA MUSIC AWARDS

The scope of Small Town Heroes, the latest album by Hurray For The Riff Raff, is a grand one as it not only mines the deep legacies of the American South but also advocates for the future of fundamental human rights for women, LGBTQ and civil rights-minded communities.

Two especially powerful tracks are “The Body Electric,” which NPR named the “political folk song of the year”, and “Everybody Knows (For Trayvon Martin).” “Everybody Knows” was released as a part of last year’s Indiegogo campaign, which the band used to fund Third Wave, The Trayvon Martin Foundation and the band’s “Body Electric” music video, which you can watch HERE.

“I wrote [“Everybody Knows”] last year, on February 26th, one year after Trayvon Martin was shot to death in a Florida suburb,” Segarra explained. “A young black man barely 17 years old brought to his end for no reason other than suspicion. It also happened to be my birthday. As I celebrated another year on Earth, I was haunted by the fact that his life ended so soon. After a visit to the Civil Rights museum in Memphis, I wrote this song. This song is a reminder that we must not forget him. We must not forget about the work that lies ahead of us.”

Starting on April 18th in Charlottesville, VA, the band will continue on the tour that lies ahead of them, playing headlining shows and festivals such as Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Mountain Jam and more. See below for a full list of the band’s upcoming tour dates which feature opening acts Son Little, Clear Plastic Masks and Daniel Romano. They will close out the tour at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium for an unforgettable performance with Jason Isbell.
