Hooray For Earth’s “Say Enough” Revealed

HOORAY FOR EARTH REVEAL VIDEO FOR “SAY ENOUGH” DIRECTED BY JOHNNY WOODS

FIRST US TOUR CONCLUDES THIS WEEKEND NYC SHOW ON SATURDAY

NEW ALBUM RACY OUT NOW VIA DOVECOTE

Hooray For Earth are excited to reveal a video for their single “Say Enough.” The video premiered via Stereogum who said it, “tells the very human story of a newly broken-up couple, following computer-animated characters drinking, having sex, and sadly remembering. It’s one of the only times I’ve seen the occasionally grotesque uncanny-valley effect of computer models used to increase emotional impact.”

The video was directed and animated by Johnny Woods with character design and modeling by Theresa Latzko. Alex Tyson was the editor. Woods said, “When I first heard (Racy), I was struck by how directly emotional the songs were (and “Say Enough” in particular). I usually write videos based more on visual ideas, but this time I wanted to focus on telling an affecting story, hopefully something everyone can relate to in some way or another… I like the idea of using animation to explore more ‘mature’ themes, so I didn’t want the characters to feel too cartoony. Theresa Latzko modeled the characters with a mix of influence from video games, anime, and traditional animation. I wanted the world to feel more or less “human”, but without fully crossing into the uncanny valley!…A lot of time was spent on getting the lighting and framing right to suit the drama of the story. It’s a different look and style for me, but I thought the story called for it, and I’m excited to do more like it!”
