TOURING NORTH AMERICA NOW

Australian indie rock band The Griswolds recently announced the release of their debut album BE IMPRESSIVE, out August 26th on Wind-up Records; the album was produced by Tony Hoffer, best known for his work with M83, Beck, and Fitz & The Tantrums. As of July 1st, BE IMPRESSIVE is available for pre-order. Fans can pre-order the album and receive instant downloads of the single “Beware the Dog.”

“Beware the Dog,” premiered last month on The Music Ninja and Triple J, and hit the Top 5 on Hype Machine and Top 50 Spotify Viral chart with 27k streams in the first day. The track is currently #26 on Spotify’s Viral Chart. The 405 had this to say about the song, “It’s got all the pep of Walk the Moon with a bit of a tribal flavour and it’s going to make you dance.” The track impacted at radio on June 17th, entering at #6 on the New & Active charts.

The Griswolds just completed a successful tour with Gemini Club, packing out rooms like NYC’s Rough Trade as well as winning over festival goers at Bonnaroo and Firefly. On July 10th the band will head out with Miniature Tigers, spanning cities from coast to coast and their most extensive US tour to date.

The Griswolds formed almost three years ago by singer/guitarist Christopher Whitehall and lead guitarist Daniel Duque-Perez, and joined by bassist Tim John and keyboard / percussionist Lachlan West. The Griswolds were thrown into the spotlight immediately after they found instant success in early 2012 when they became Australia’s Triple J “Unearthed” feature artist and won a slot on the 2012 Parklife Festival lineup alongside Passion Pit. They have gone on to play Oz’s Big Day Out Festival, and have toured with St Lucia, San Cisco, Django Django among others.

They released their Heart of a Lion EP in the US in the Fall of 2013, a shimmering four-song collection of tropical indie rock numbers. Featuring their breakout track “Mississippi,” the EP immediately earned them notable accolades from press and fans alike. You can also hear a remix of the track by Magic Man here. The band made their SXSW debut at this year’s festival and quickly named the band to watch by Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, AU Review, The Atlantic.
