GRAMMY® CREATORS ALLIANCE ANNOUNCES MEMBERS OF MANAGERS THINK TANK
Think Tank Comprised Of Managers Of Leading Artists, Songwriters, And Producers; Will Advise New GRAMMY Creators Alliance
As part of the recently launched GRAMMY® Creators Alliance, The Recording Academy® has formed a Managers Think Tank to advise on issues impacting the music creator community. Established in direct response to bipartisan congressional requests for the music community to get involved with policy matters and speak with a unified voice, The GRAMMY Creators Alliance will utilize the Managers Think Tank to review legislative proposals, identify new issues, and advise policymakers on crafting long-term solutions to create a sustainable music marketplace. Comprised of 30 of the nation’s leading representatives of music talent.
“As the Judiciary Committee continues its review of the Copyright Act, it is imperative that we understand the implications on the creators of content and their representatives,” said Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. “I look forward to hearing the viewpoints of music creators as we consider changes to the law to ensure we ‘promote the progress of science and useful arts,’ as the framers intended. The GRAMMY Creators Alliance will be an important voice in this discussion.”
“Immersed in music, technology, business, and IP, managers often serve as the primary business partner for creators; therefore, it was important to develop this Managers Think Tank as an integral resource for both congressional leadership and members of the Alliance,” said Daryl P. Friedman, Chief Advocacy & Industry Relations Officer for The Recording Academy. “These managers are respected thought leaders in the industry, from large firms to boutiques, representing clients at varying career points—to help us identify the key issues that need to be addressed and ensure the creator’s voice remains front and center in related policy discussions.”
As the only membership organization that represents individual songwriters, artists, and producers (with no company members), The Recording Academy is in a unique position to provide an amplified voice for music makers for the greater good of the entire music community.
Announced during the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards® telecast on Feb. 8, 2015, the GRAMMY Creators Alliance is a growing coalition comprising some of the greatest songwriters, performers, and studio professionals in the creative community who will serve as a powerful voice advancing pro-creator legislation, educating policymakers on the lives of music makers, and engaging fellow artists to help shape the future of music. Founding GRAMMY Creators Alliance members include deadmau5, Dr. Luke, Kenny “Babyface“ Edmonds, Jennifer Hudson, Jimmy Jam, Alicia Keys, Lady Antebellum, Adam Levine, Ryan Tedder, and Steven Tyler.
