Girlpool Introduces “Jane”
GIRLPOOL SHARE “JANE”
DEBUT SELF-TITLED EP OUT NOV 18 ON WICHITA RECORDINGS
ANNOUNCE FALL & WINTER TOUR DATES
“”Jane” sounds like a murder ballad drawn in crayons, with red scribbly blood exploding at the edges, but it ends with a message of empowerment.” -Pitchfork
Today LA based duo, Girlpool have shared “Jane”, an empowering anthem indicative of the vulnerable and raw sound the band has been honing since their conception last year. Wichita Recordings will be releasing a remastered version of Girlpool’s already critically acclaimed debut self-titled EP physically and digitally on November 18th.
Girlpool have also announced a slew of tour dates including their first east coast tour with this fall, a London show with Alex G and a December residency at The Echo in Los Angeles. All tour dates below.
ABOUT GIRLPOOL:
Girlpool is a Los Angeles based two piece made up of Cleo Tucker (Guitar) and Harmony Tividad (Bass). Having met at local DIY venue the Smell, the two quickly grew very close. Their sound is raw, comprised only of a guitar, bass and vocal harmonies. The band uses this stripped-down instrumentation to accentuate their vulnerable yet powerful lyrics to create honest pieces, tackling concepts ranging from awareness and respect to the simple of feeling of being alone at a show.
PRAISE FOR GIRLPOOL:
“Armed with just two guitars, the duo reel you in with seriously catchy hooks and achieve more depth with these songs than any drum kit ever could.” -NME
“Spare, hypnotic songs using only guitar and bass. Think an iOS7 version of early Liz Phair.” -Wondering Sound
“Every angst-ridden moment of growing up, from falling in love to self-acceptance is all perfectly captured in Girlpool’s self-titled debut. No matter the age of the listener it’s hard not to relate to the Los Angeles duo.” -The Grey Estates
“If Cat Power and Courtney Love came together to wear jean jackets and write angsty campfire songs, it would probably sound something like this.” -The Le Sigh
