GEORGE MARINELLI RELEASES “TWISTED TANGO” MUSIC VIDEO TODAY EXCLUSIVELY VIA ELIXIRSTRINGS.COM
HERALDED GUITARIST’S FOURTH SOLO ALBUM, WILD ONIONS, AVAILABLE NOW MAY 21, 2014 (Nashville, TN) —George Marinelli releases the Continental-inspired music video for “Twisted Tango” today exclusively on ElixirStrings.com. Fans that share the video on Elixir Strings’ Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hash-tag #WildOnions will be entered to win an exclusive autographed prize pack. Marinelli released his fourth solo album, Wild Onions, March 18. The new album–which includes five original songs and five covers–blends his musical influences, including afro, Latin, and reggae. “The original songs I wrote with my long-time co-writer and pal, Rich Wayland,” Marinelli said. “He has a really unique way of articulating lyrics that would otherwise be pretty ordinary. I also wanted to cut some cover songs for this album, and I had some favorites that I’d always fantasized about recording.” Of his musical partner, Marinelli says, “Elixir Strings last and the sound near the beginning-of-the-life is almost the same as the sound at the end. They’re never brittle and always consistent.” During the making of Wild Onions, Marinelli channeled musical influences like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and Chuck Berry. He strived for spontaneity and spark, focusing on music over technology. “I really like to keep production to a minimum and let the music speak for itself,” he said. Marinelli played every instrument on the album except for two songs, on which drummer Ricky Fataar (The Flames, The Beach Boys, Bonnie Raitt) and bassist James “Hutch” Hutchinson (The Neville Brothers, BK3, Bonnie Raitt) did the honors. For more than twenty years, Marinelli has been Bonnie Raitt’s guitarist and recently played her Slipstream World Tour, in support of the GRAMMY-winning album (on which he also co-wrote one of the songs with Raitt). “After all these years, it is like an extended family,” he said of his long musical relationship with her and the rest of the band. “It’s such a terrific gig for me because of the variety and depth of material.” He is an original member of Bruce Hornsby and The Range, toured with James Taylor, and played on Ray Charles’ last album, Genius Loves Company. Wild Onions is available on iTunes, CD Baby, and Amazon. The “Twisted Tango” music video will be streaming everywhere tomorrow, May 22. |
