FOREST OF TYGERS are a genre-bending, blackened and manic metallic hardcore duo from Nashville, TN. Longtime scene veterans and married couple Jim and Rachel Valosik forge a crushing wall of sonic oppression that combines black metal, hardcore, death and grind.
Invisible Oranges described FOREST OF TYGERS‘ debut thus: “This husband-and-wife duo’s debut EP Bruises does exactly what a debut release should: it makes sure you remember their name in the most economical space possible.” The excellent praise continues with, “stern black metal jockeys for position with noisy, choppy hardcore…before an earnest rock chord progression.”
In an earlier stream through Exclaim, Bruises was recognized for its “”jarring journey” of “black metal scissor beats, proggy six-string noodling, a brief melodic reprieve and a finale of cymbal crashes and death cries.” The debut track stream from the EP via Noiseyquite rightly labelled the band as “fist-clenching, blackened-sludge”.
