Folk Gets A Shout!

THE ONLY FOLK COLLECTION YOU’LL EVER NEED

NEW COLLECTION TO BE RELEASED BY SHOUT! FACTORY
DECEMBER 9, 2014

Shout! Factory will release a new 2-CD compilation titled The Only Folk Collection You’ll Ever Need on December 9, 2014, featuring an introduction by music journalist and author Bill Bush. An eclectic collection of traditional and classic American folk music, the set contains many classics that still move hearts and minds.

As Bush writes, many of the artists in this collection were key players in the urban folk revivals of the late 50s and early to mid-60s. Some, such as The Carter Family, Woody Guthrie, Lead Belly, The Stanley Brothers and The Weavers were inspiring singers, songwriters and pickers as far back as the 20s, 30s and 40s, maybe even earlier.

Singer-songwriters have been around longer than America itself, and music doesn’t get more authentic than Mississippi John Hurt, Odetta, Lead Belly, The Weavers, Peter, Paul & Mary, The Kingston Trio, and of course, Bob Dylan, who gave us one of the most iconic songs of our time, with “The Times They Are A’ Changin.’” The Only Folk Collection You’ll Ever Need is at once a perfect introduction to folk, a course in American history, and a must-have for collectors.
