The self-titled debut LP from emerging Chicago-based duo FinleyKnight is available now. The band has received early support at radio with spins from tastemakers including KCRW. Additionally, “I’m Driving Cars,” the latest track off the album, is now streaming at Diffuser.FM:http://bit.ly/1fu0lR5. The clip follows the recent premiere of the album’s lead single “Madhatter” at Impose Magazine who explains, “the result is what happens where conventions of songwriting meets the formats of drum and bass models of dance pop that invites new appointed definitions.” Watch the band perform “Madhatter” live: http://bit.ly/1rX6E7i.
To support the release, FinleyKnight will perform at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall on June 27. Further tour dates will be announced soon.
FinleyKnight was produced by Joey Waronker (Atoms For Peace, Beck, REM). The twosome spent months in Waronker’s Los Angeles studio perfecting what they had already spent two years creating. Of the new music John Finley notes, “Writing this record over a period of two years allowed us to capture the broad scope of FK. Connor and I would start our individual songs alone, and then pass them back and forth. When Joey joined, it opened a whole new vision and outlook on rhythm.”
FinleyKnight is brothers and multi-instrumentalists John Finley and Connor Knight Detjen. The duo have toured the U.S. extensively including residencies in New York City, Austin, Chicago and Boston. They also spent time in South America performing across Argentina in 2012. FinleyKnight moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to collaborate with Waronker on their first full length.
