Faded Paper Figures Offer “Breathing”
FADED PAPER FIGURES’ “BREATHING” VIDEO PREMIERES AT BAEBLE MUSIC
RARE RUN OF SHOWS HITS CMJ THIS WEEK
Faded Paper Figures released Relics, last month via Shorthand Records and are now proud to present the first video from the album. “Breathing” is a sultry synth vision of a hieroglyphic future and Baeble Music debuted the clip this morning saying, “Set to their catchy, electronica drenched song… The synth-pop trio’s new video takes you away to another land, filled with black lights, neon, and a nod to ancient Egypt.”
Vocalist/guitarist John Williams describes the video as being, “Somewhere in the electric Kool-Aid acid passions of music and technology, a kind of immortality sits waiting in the wings. It’s a vision that is neither religious nor atheistic, but flashing and pulsing with cosmic possibilities.”
Since Faded Paper Figures is made up of a Yale professor, a doctor and a Hollywood music producer, the band rarely tours but have a limited run of shows this week, including their CMJ showcase on Wednesday, October 22 at Bowery Electric.
The electro-synth trio seems to have fully mastered not only their signature sound with Relics (electronic beats, gorgeous guitar riffs, and beautiful harmonies), but also accelerated full force into a brave new world of sitars, analog synths, and intense vocals. Relics has been praised by Paste, BULLETT, Clash, Wonderland and The Music Ninja, to name a few.

“One catchy crop of tunes. Much like the meditative astronaut that adorns the album’s cover art, the band’s delightful pop is out-of-this-world yet grounded in self-examination.”
– Paste Magazine
“I expected this group to deliver ‘smart’ music and dammit, they do. They do the synth movement proud. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED”
– PopDose
“Forward thinking electro pop, with the glistening production shrouding a chassis which borrows from indie rock songcraft […] emotive songcraft and delicate arrangement”
– Clash (UK)
“Relics promises to be their most honest, sophisticated, and ambitious offering yet”
– Wonderland (UK)
“Relics . . . pulls us into the future with a kaleidoscope of cascading synths”
– BULLETT
“Perfects their brand of ‘why-the long-face’ boy-girl electropop. Essentially, The Shins if they had loved New Order rhan than The Cure.”
– UNCUT (UK)
“The eclectic style of this trio really shines through on this newly released album. We don’t often get an opportunity to relate to so many different messages provided on an album, but Faded Paper Figures made that rarity a possibility. Ranging in all different styles of music, this album is a must have for anyone”
