Drew Holcombe’s Medicine Arrives January 27th
Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors Set to Release New Full-Length Studio Album Medicine on January 27th, 2015 – Marking a Decade in Band’s Career
Album Drop Followed by US Headlining Tour Including Hometown Show at Nashville’s Historic Ryman Auditorium
For Nashville based, Memphis born Drew Holcomb, “music is medicine” and it seems only fitting that along with his band The Neighbors – wife Ellie (vocals, guitar), Nathan Dugger (guitar, keys) and Rick Brinsfield (bass) – the group will celebrate a decade long career with the release of their new full-length studio album Medicine on January 27th via his own imprint Magnolia Music. Recorded over eight days at Joe Pisapia’s Middletree Studios in East Nashville, the twelve song album was co-produced by Pisapia (Ben Folds, KD Lang, Guster, Josh Rouse) and the band and tackles issues of everyday life including loyalty, hardship, marriage, friendship, alienation and faith.
Medicine is the follow-up album to 2013’s full-length studio release Good Light – the band’s most successful album to date. Good Light debuted on several Billboard Charts: #84 on Top 200, #5 on Folk Albums, #14 on Independent Albums and #23 on Rock Albums. In addition, Good Light reached #7 overall on iTunes and #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart and the album hit the #18 spot on the Americana Radio Chart. The release also garnered favorable coverage from the media including USA Today, American Songwriter, Paste, VH1 and CMT among others and earned the band TV placements on a variety of hit shows including How I Met Your Mother, Criminal Minds, Nashville and About A Boy.
This wasn’t the first time the band’s music was met with success. Their debut album Passenger Seat released in 2008 hit the #3 spot on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart and 2011’s Chasing Someday LP, which was distributed via a partnership with Dualtone Records, debuted at #3 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Chasing Someday also scored the band several noteworthy TV synchs on One Tree Hill, Justified, HOUSE, Oprah and Deadliest Catch and that same year TNT used the album’s “Live Forever” song for their NBA Christmas Day Premiere commercial called “NBA FOREVER.” The spot was awarded a Sports Emmy and garnered noteworthy coverage by Boston Globe, Huffington Post, NBC Sports and Sports Illustrated.
The band toured heavily, including direct support slots with NEEDTOBREATHE, John Hiatt, and the Avett Brothers as well as several headlining runs. In addition, they played several prestigious US festivals including Bonnaroo, Hangout Music Fest, Americana Music Festival, Forecastle and the Voodoo Experience and even started their own annual festival this past June with the Moon River Music Festival in Memphis. The Good Light album also brought international headlining tours for the first time with shows in the UK, Scandinavia, Denmark, and Canada.
After a decade of touring and nearly 2,000 shows, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors are thrilled to bring you the next chapter with their latest album Medicine and a massive US headlining tour to follow including a February 28th show at Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium.
