The Decemberists’ “Make You Better” Tops Triple AAA

THE DECEMBERISTS “MAKE YOU BETTER” HITS #1 ON TRIPLE-A RADIO CHART;

BAND ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL SPRING U.S. TOUR DATES

NEW ALBUM WHAT A TERRIBLE WORLD, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL WORLD OUT NOW

Make You Better”—the lead single from The Decemberists acclaimed new album What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World—has reached the #1 spot on the Triple-A radio charts this week, marking the band’s second #1 song at the format following the chart topping success of “Down By The Water” from 2011’s The King Is Dead. What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World also marked the band’s second Top 5 debut on the Billboard Top Albums Chart. Watch the “Make You Better” video starring Nick Offerman.

The Decemberists have also announced additional Spring U.S. tour dates across the Midwest and Southeast including a May 24 performance in lead singer Colin Meloy’s home state of Montana, and a June 4 appearance at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. See what the critics are saying about What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World:

“The first masterpiece of 2015… one of the most important bands of the last decade and a half”—Sound Opinions

“The Decemberists’ first LP since 2011 ups the hooks and deepens the emotions…a band refreshed, enriching its trademark folk rock with Seventies pop plushness”—Rolling Stone

“What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World sees singer and songwriter Meloy in peak form… Meloy’s new songs have a precision that suggests Gordon Lish had taken his editing knife to them…the rest of the band expands and contracts at will, using banjos, mandolins, bowed strings, surprising rhythms and lots of guitars”—Los Angeles Times

“What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World strikes a note of pop concision and maturity, building on what worked on The King Is Dead”—New York Times

“One of the indie-rock band’s most enjoyable and lively efforts in recent memory… their latest loosens Meloy’s grip to explore casual grooves and universal themes in his lyrics… It’s refreshing, almost novel, to hear an album so at peace with life’s ups and downs”—Boston Globe

The stripped-down songs on Terrible World are its best. After years of extravagance, dressing down turns out to be The Decemberists’ strong suit.”—Billboard

“The Decemberists sound liberated… the overall breadth is breathtaking”—RELIX
