Dave McGraw & Mandy Fer To Bring Maritime

Dave McGraw & Mandy Fer to Release ‘Maritime’ on March 3

Internationally acclaimed songwriters Dave McGraw & Mandy Fer find inspiration in their island home for forthcoming Americana album

Announcing Tour Dates With  Loudon Wainwright III

Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer have set March 3 as their US release date for Maritime. The new record is steeped with compelling vocal harmonies, electric guitar, warm cello and the driving rhythms of rich wooded instruments- a sound that is identifiably their own. Europe has been championing Maritime for months now, having charted at #1 on the EuroAmericana Chart for two consecutive months and ranked among the Best Albums of 2014 by The Telegraph, praising it for “…soulful songs, intuitive musicianship, and fine singing.”

This album walks the genre lines of folk, indie-rock and rootsy Americana with ease. Drawing on the nature around them, McGraw and Fer recorded Maritime in a cabin on an island nestled between Seattle, WA and Victoria, British Columbia. Instead of leaving to record in a bustling city, McGraw and Fer decided to stay isolated at their seaside home, calling on kindred musicians and their producer to share in the experience. Recorded live in a home following a dirt road with towering evergreens sans cell service, the musical story of a patient island is told.

McGraw and Fer met in Flagstaff, Arizona in 2010 before relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 2012. McGraw spent a decade as a wildlife biologist, studying endangered birds in remote locales from the deserts of Mexico and the Grand Canyon to the mountainous rain forests of Washington. Fer’s musical pulse led her to Spain, where she studied music, language and local culture.

Together, their exceptional vocal harmonies coupled with Fer’s pioneering electric guitar work have become a vehicle to carry them around the world. The pair has honed their skills touring extensively throughout the US and Europe, sharing stages with fellow troubadours including Iron & Wine, Glen Hansard, Gregory Alan Isakov, Kelly Joe Phelps, Birds of Chicago. Their take-the-music-to-the-people approach to touring has won over audiences from Alaska to Amsterdam.

Maritime is a testament to the secret rhythms of nature that exists on the small slice of land in the seas between Seattle, WA and Victoria, BC. Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer have captured this sound, this feeling, this way of life and invite listeners into the wooded cabin where Maritime was recorded.
