Courtney Barnett Brings Breeders’ “Cannonball”
COURTNEY BARNETT EMBARKS ON NORTH AMERICAN TOUR NEXT MONTH
COVERS THE BREEDERS’ “CANNONBALL” VIA THE AV CLUB
Courtney Barnett spent the summer zipping across North America, playing several major music festivals, bringing her standout rock and roll show to audiences across the country. Barnett and her band The Courtney Barnett’s stole the show and played to her biggest crowd yet at Firefly Festival. They continued on to wow crowds at Lollapalooza, Osheaga, Pickathon, Outside Lands, Northside, as well as playing a run of sold out club shows.
For those who missed her this time around, or for folks who are eager to catch the 26 year old wordsmith again, Barnett will be returning to the states this fall for her first ever national tour. She’ll be co-headlining the massive run of dates with New York’s San Fermin. All tour dates can be found below.

Barnett also found time this summer to swing by The AV Club’s Chicago studio, recording a cover of “Cannonball” by The Breeders. The AV Club noted, “The Breeders’ 1993 classic seemed like a perfect fit when Barnett chose it, and it turns out the song was a starting point for Barnett’s debut full-length.”
On September 30th, as part of RED Distribution’s “Ten Bands One Cause” initiative and in support of Breast Cancer awareness month, Courtney Barnett will be releasing The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas on limited pink vinyl. The limited release will be available from indie retailers across the US, with $1 from every sale sponsoring Gilda’s Club NYC, a non-profit created in the memory of Gilda Radner, an original cast member of Saturday Night Live who passed away from ovarian cancer in 1989. Other artists participating in the program me include Against Me!, Nothing, Temples, Lucius, and more. The limited vinyl can also be purchased on Insound here.
