Stelvio Cipriani’s soundtrack for Ruggero Deodato’s “Concorde Affaire ’79” is a masterpiece, bringing together many diverse styles that the maestro perfected at his prime: propulsive motorik disco funk, epic soaring strings, smooth tropical jazz, ominous atmospheric industrial synthscapes, and more! This limited edition replicates the rare original Japanese Polydor release and adds a second LP with 15 bonus tracks, creating a complete and definitive release of Cipriani’s finest hour. Also includes new liner notes by Cipriani himself! A first-class piece of Italian soundtrack history is now back in circulation.
Stelvio composed scores for all the luminaries of Italian genre films including Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci, Umberto Lenzi, Joe D’Amato & Sergio Martino as well as many other exploitation film directors around the world such as Radley Metzger, Juan Piquer Simón, Gordon Hessler, René Cardona Jr. and even James Cameron in his directorial debut “Piranha II: The Spawning.”
Over the course of his career Stelvio collaborated with other notable recording artists such as Grace Jones (“Colt 38 Special Squad”) Goblin (“Solamente Nero”) and Claudio Simonetti (“Un’Ombra Nell’Ombra”). His legacy is still championed today by fans such as Quentin Tarantino who chose to incorporate Stelvio’s theme from “La Polizia Sta a Guardare” during the climatic chase scene for his 2007 exploitation tribute film “DEATH PROOF”
