DRENGE * Drenge (Infectious Music)
Sibling duo DRENGE are releasing their debut album in the US today via Infectious Music. The 2013 NME Awards ‘Best New Band’ hail from a tiny rural village in the North of England. The Loveless brothers, Eoin – pronounced Owen – (Guitar and vocals) 23, and Rory (Drums), 21, grew up making a fantastic racket on guitar and drums. Drenge (Danish for “boys” – named for their love of Lars Von Treir/Dogma movies) have an uncanny ability to tap into the insouciance, confusion and chaos of today’s generation while at the same time translating it into a vicious serotonin rush. Even though the brothers are barely in their 20s, they have accumulated enough confidence, vim and vigour in their music to sweep any discerning listener off their feet. At SXSW this year – their first US shows – the band picked up national media coverage from critics for their wall of sound guitar sound and arresting songs like “Fuckabout” and “People In Love Make Me Feel Yuck”. Catch the band on tour in the US this month. All tour dates below.
