Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s new album Only Run is now streaming in its entirety via NPR’s First Listen. “The factors that made Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s mid-’00s success seem fleeting – its indifference to the label system, its embrace of the Internet – helped inoculate the group against obsolescence,” said NPR. “For every briskly grabby, right-up-the-middle rush the band concocts, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah also finds a new way to deepen and vary its approach, in ways that reflect a relentless pursuit of invention and reinvention.” Only Run comes out next week on June 3.
Several weeks ago, Pitchfork premiered the first video for the track “As Always.” The video, directed by David M. Helman, shows actor Wil Daniels deep in a never-ending night of debauchery and explodes with an unexpected twist at the end.
