Janina Gavankar Covers Martin Garrix’s “Don’t Look Down”

Actress and musician, Janina Gavankar, re-imagines Martin Garrix’s EDM single “Don’t Look Down” featuring Usher. By returning to her roots for this video and performance, her vision and arrangement included 50 members Drum and Bugle Corps. While in NYC filming NBC’s “Mysteries of Laura” this past month, she self funded this video and recruited The Jersey Surf, a world- class drum corps to join her for this innovative video. Janina has had a personal obsession with drum corps since the early age of 13 and has a passion for supporting arts education in schools since it helped her achieve her goal as an actress and musician.

Son Little’s “O Mother” Video Debuts

It’s tragic that Son Little’s new song “O Mother” is so absolutely relevant. In a better world it would be unnecessary, never written. Matters of racism and oppression would be relegated to history, lessons learned and transcended. Recent events tell us otherwise. And with the compassionate anger of “O Mother,” Son Little addresses these matters from an intensely personal perspective. The New Yorker compared the track to Marvin Gaye’s powerful “Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)” calling it “a deeply personal slow jam which takes up where Gaye’s song left off.”

Spoon’s Inside Out Remixes Coming

It was kismet last Friday when Justin Vernon of Bon Iver released his own haunting version of “Inside Out” from Spoon’s acclaimed album They Want My Soul. Today, four more versions of the song are revealed as Spoon releases an EP of remixes by Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes, Operators, Tycho and Brian Reitzell. The four track EP is available via digital retailers April 28.

Dee Dee Bridgewater Visits New Orleans On …Feathers

Dee Dee’s Feathers, a journey through the history of New Orleans as told through song and the collaboration of Dee Dee Bridgewater, Irvin Mayfield & The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO), is set for release August llth, 2015, via OKeh/Sony Music/DDB Records. Recorded at New Orleans’ Esplanade Studios, a studio in a reconverted historical church in the heart of the city that was badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina, the release of “Dee Dee’s Feathers” will be accompanied by tour dates worldwide including stops at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, the Barbican in London and New York City’s famed Apollo Theatre on Halloween.
