Sondre Lerche’s “Bad Law” From Please Release

“Bad Law” establishes Lerche’s vocal vulnerability and struggle with control, but also establishes another theme that runs throughout the record: the darkness that rises when love and law collide, building to the musing, “When crimes are passionate, can love be separate?” Sondre says of “Bad Law”: “Bad Law came charged with this urge to play a simple song that would allow people (and myself, I suppose) to ventilate anger and frustration, to get happy, dance like idiots and ultimately feel a little better, despite everything going to shit. I hope people lose it to this song.”

Carolina Story’s Chapter Two Coming June 24th

Nashville based singer-songwriters Ben and Emily Roberts, better known as the duo Carolina Story, are pleased to announce the release of Chapter Two on June 24, 2014. The name Carolina Story was inspired by a promise they made to each other in North Carolina that they would commit themselves as a couple to making music together, blending a matrimonial partnership with their creative partnership, and living that journey through music made together for others and performed for them on the road. Chapter Two continues their narrative after last year’s Chapter One (#6 iTunes singer/songwriter chart; Top 10 Americana radio chart) release. This second original 6-song EP marks not only a cycle of growth in the duo’s writing and performing but also some changes in the storyline of their “Carolina Story” as husband and wife.

The Boxer Rebellion’s “Promises” Hits Google TV

London-based indie-rock quartet The Boxer Rebellion are pleased to announce that their song, “Promises,” taken from their latest studio album of the same name, is currently being featured in the new Google advertisement. Televised last night during the American Idol Finale, the new 90-second commercial draws from user-generated videos centered around the special moments during adolescence where lifelong memories are created. With its lyrics rooted in the idea of moving on yet retaining the spirit of one’s youth, the uplifting and cinematic “Promises” is thematic to the band’s trajectory – having significantly gone from strength to strength since parting ways with Universal Music almost ten years ago. Check out the new music video for “Promises” HERE, and if you want to check out the Google commercial featuring The Boxer Rebellion’s “Promises,” click HERE.

Marcus Hook Roll Band Sees Light Of Day

Just before Malcolm and Angus Young took us on a debaucherous decent down that Highway to Hell, they joined with their talented brother, George Young and guitarist Harry Vanda, to form the brief, yet musically significant group, The Marcus Hook Roll Band. Back then, there was no such person as Marcus Hook, nor did the ‘band’ originate from the borough of Marcus Hook in Pennsylvania. George and his fellow musicians only ever existed as a band in studio, releasing three singles and one album in the early ’70s. When any of these tracks turn up on internet auction sites today, collectors bankrupt their PayPal accounts to win them. Now, The Marcus Hook Roll Band is releasing their one and only album, 1973’s Tales of Old Grand-Daddy, on June 3 through Parlophone as CD/vinyl/digital download.
