Due out on Record Store Day — Saturday, April 18th at official RSD outlets and via Run For Cover Records’ store and open-house — Ring Around The Room continues to expand the band’s corrosive sound, soaring to new heights while exploring the depths of blistering post-punk via layers of atmospheric influenced shoegaze, reckless noise punk, and harsh stampeding rhythms. Wallowing in the darkness and writhing with despair, the EP is hypnotic and explosive, luring you into a deceptive calm before erupting in a fit of distortion. Creative Adult vocalist Scott Phillips described the EP as an exploration of “total isolation, distorted exploration, and the acknowledgement of light in spite of how things seem on the surface” before adding “Creative Adult does not vote.”
Continue readingLondon-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Olivia Chaney makes her album debut with The Longest River, available April 28 on Nonesuch Records. Chaney, a recent BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards double nominee, co-produced the album at the legendary RAK Studios in London with Leo Abrahams (guitarist, film composer, and Brian Eno collaborator). The record was engineered by esteemed veteran Jerry Boys (Buena Vista Social Club, Sandy Denny) and includes Chaney’s longtime collaborators, musicians Oliver Coates, Jordan Hunt, and Leo Taylor.
Continue readingNneka, the German Nigerian soul singer/songwriter and actress, confirms summer tour dates in support of her forthcoming studio album My Fairy Tales, out May 26 on Bushqueen Music. Nneka recently appeared on BBC News to speak about the new album and perform the track “My Love, My Love.” Watch and listen HERE. The song is available via Soundcloud HERE. Of the track, Nneka says “It’s about connecting with a universal and/or godly love, not being pessimistic and finding beauty in the little things despite all the calamity and madness in the world.” A live version can also be heard HERE from Nneka’s recent sold out concert in Paris at Le Bataclan. Continue readingBrooklyn trio Jukebox the Ghost surprised fans this month with the rerelease of their self-titled LP which included a bonus disc of pianist and lead vocalist Ben Thornewill’s reimagining of the songs as improvised piano arrangements. The rerelease celebrates the band’s signing to Cherrytree Records and marks Jukebox the Ghost’s first release on the label. Additionally, the band is pleased to announce that they’ll be joining Ingrid Michaelson all summer on her A Summer Night Out with Ingrid Michaelson Tour. Kicking off this June, the tour hits a number of prestigious venues across the country like LA’s Greek Theater, NYC’s SummerStage at Central Park, and the Chicago Theater. Jukebox the Ghost will also be making a handful of festival appearances this summer at Shaky Knees Festival, Pinelands Music Festival, and more.

The new album, produced by Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons), contains 13 tracks of bombastic, heart-skipping raw electronic bursts wrapped in pop hooks, all delivered with the power and energy of a live band. Five Knives will perform at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on May 5 supporting Dev, and will bring the dance party to the beaches of Gulf Shores, AL when they perform at Hangout Festival on May 15.
