BÉLA FLECK: HOW TO WRITE A BANJO CONCERTO follows the banjo trailblazer (and 15 time Grammy award winner) through one of his most challenging musical journeys, into the world of the symphony orchestra. Despite having no formal training in classical composition and orchestration, Béla Fleck is commissioned to compose a major banjo concerto, possibly the first of its kind, for banjo and 80-piece symphony orchestra. The film, directed by Sascha Paladino and Fleck, begins before Fleck has even written a note, and concludes a year later with his work’s sold-out premiere concert with the Nashville Symphony.

Continue readingAfter a record 18 years, The Offspring have returned to Number 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs radio airplay chart with their current single “Coming For You.” The song is also the band’s 27th song to enter the Alternative Songs chart putting them in sixth place for most songs charted at the format (they are tied with R.E.M). “Coming For You” premiered earlier this year and is currently available at store.offspring.com, iTunes, Amazon and other digital services. The track will be featured on the band’s forthcoming 10th studio album.

Brooklyn born actress Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe is representing Brooklyn alongside celebrity chef, “The Tuscan Gun” from The Cooking Channel’s hit show, Extra Virgin, Gabriele Corcos. American Rapper and prominent member of the Wu-Tang Clan, Raekwon will be campaigning for Staten Island, while the NFL’s Chris Canty is supporting the Bronx.
