Capitol Introduces “seventeenfifty”

CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP LAUNCHES seventeenfifty
Innovative New Initiative to Elevate Partnership Development From Within Major Label Group

Capitol Music Group (CMG) today announced the launch of seventeenfifty, a creative lab with four distinct, but interlaced mandates – to provide consumer insights and research for CMG labels; to execute strategic media buys; to lead creative sync licensing deals; and to evaluate and secure key brand partnerships. This new initiative was announced by CMG Chairman and CEO Steve Barnett and CMG Executive Vice Presidents Greg Thompson and Michelle Jubelirer, and will be led by seventeenfifty Senior Vice President Kate Denton.

seventeenfifty reframes the opportunities through and with music to unlock expanded partnership and revenue potential. Created in recognition of the ever growing demand for unique branding and licensing opportunities, the group will play an instrumental role in the successful development of artists’ careers and enhancement of their stature within popular culture and the entertainment industries. seventeenfifty is focused on amplifying this connection and highlighting new CMG artists and bespoke content opportunities for brand, sync and media partners that are like-minded and creative.

Lead by Denton, seventeenfifty’s staff work on maximizing all branding opportunities that fall under this vast and growing umbrella while adding value to existing deals. Since joining CMG last year, Kate has led her team on a variety of innovative endeavors on behalf of the company’s artists, including: securing branded product placements for Capitol Cities and Mary Lambert, to name a few; partnering with Intel and MTV to execute a live stream concert from the roof of Capitol Music Tower for the launch of Arcade Fire album Reflektor; teaming with Gogo on the first ever in-flight album launch for Beck’s Morning Phase; partnering with Delta Air Lines to launch a new artist discovery platform across their media channels and in flight with debut Sam Smith album, In The Lonely Hour.

With a background which spans 13 years in the world of consumer packaged goods, Denton has developed a keen awareness for what resonates with consumers. The transition into music was seamless as she parlayed that skill set and knowledge into powering her role at Capitol. “What seventeenfifty is doing is exciting and different; for the first time, we are taking a collaborative approach with our partners to develop fresh and unique opportunities for our roster of talented artists,” said seventeenfifty Senior Vice President Kate Denton. “I am thrilled to be a part of this new initiative and look forward to the new adventure ahead.”

“Kate and her team have already made a tremendous impact within CMG and for our artists by developing and maintaining important outside partnerships and achieving such impressive results,” explained Thompson. seventeenfifty is integral to the array of opportunities that our company looks to provide for artists, and I’m confident that it will play an even greater role in the success of our artists and company as our industry continues to evolve.”

seventeenfifty also welcomes CMG veteran, Alisann Blood, in her new role as Vice President of Sync and Brand Partnerships. During her 5 year span at CMG, Blood has created and implemented strategic partnerships with brands such as Delta, Gogo, Nokia, Ubisoft and Bowers & Wilkins. Her previous experience includes roles at Steve Madden, Island Def Jam, and Elektra Entertainment Group where she began her career.
