Byzantine’s To Release Is To Resolve To Be Released

BYZANTINE PREMIERES “THE AGONIES” WITH DECIBEL MAGAZINE

NEW ALBUM, TO RELEASE IS TO RESOLVE OUT ON APRIL 7

Byzantine is prepared to unleash its new album, To Release Is To Resolve on April 7 via CEN/RED Distribution.  It’s a record that takes the progressive thrash titans’ monstrous sound to new heights, as proven by the ferocious track, “The Agonies” recently premiered by Decibel Magazine.

Byzantine has spent the better part of its nearly 15-year existence overcoming the odds. After two years of building the band’s infrastructure, Byzantine caught the attention of Chris Adler of Lamb Of God, leading to an East Coast tour together and signing to Prosthetic Records. By 2007, however, the financial hardships of the industry took their toll and led to Byzantine disbanding. “We had no clue how to run a band like a business,” admits front-man Chris “OJ” Ojeda. “But I just had this horrible feeling we were making a big life mistake by walking away.” This feeling led to Byzantine reforming five years later, releasing its self-titled fourth record that garnered multiple “Album of the Year” awards and solidified the band’s cult status amongst metal-heads.

However, Byzantine have no intentions of slowing down. Once again turning to crowd-funding to help support the album’s creation, Ojeda and drummer Matt Wolfe reunited with Jay Hannon to handle engineering and mixing duties for To Release Is To Resolve. Album no. 5 also marks bassist Sean Sydnor and guitarist Brian Henderson’s debut recording with Byzantine. The band intends to tour extensively in the coming year, starting off with a performance at Metal Sucks’ official SXSW showcase South By South Death, with support from WSOU and also featuring Norma Jean and Fallujah. “To have a second chance to make a first impression is a blessing we don’t take lightly,” declares Ojeda. “We slammed the door on ourselves in 2007, and now we are forcing it back open. This time around, we are not going away without a fight.”
