In the still of a shimmering night two friends stared out into the endless blanket of stars. HEY, said the universe. START A BAND.

BROOKLYN PETS is James Poulos and Mark Reback. Their new collection of spacegaze music is an EP called MEGA IDIOT.

James sings and plays guitar. Mark plays drums. The songs on MEGA IDIOT were conjured at Mark’s shack in the Highland Park neighborhood of northeast Los Angeles. Then they were bludgeoned onto a record at the legendary Coast Recorders in San Francisco, where noted independent rock and roll producer Andy Freeman whipped the guys into a frenzy.

Kick drums were enlarged. Seven amplifiers were played through at the same time. Pegacorns of anthemic beauty leaped over walls of sound.

Later that night the sky was filled with gigantic shooting stars. “This band is fun,” said the guys.
