The Boomtown Rats Joins The Big Session
THE BOOMTOWN RATS TO HEADLINE NEW YORK AND BOSTON EVENTS
HEADLINING THE BIG SESSION EVENTS PRESENTED BY SMITHWICK’S IRISH ALE
TERMINAL 5 IN NYC SEPTEMBER 26
THE ROYALE IN BOSTON SEPTEMBER 28
With a string of top ten hits and platinum albums, earning them Brit Awards and Ivor Novellos The Boomtown Rats, fronted by Live Aid founder Bob Geldof, can safely be described as musical greats. Making history as the first Irish band to have a UK no 1 hit with ‘Rat Trap’, they went on to top the charts in 32 Countries with ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’ and racked up six era-defining albums.
The band reformed for a critically acclaimed UK and Ireland tour last year. After last year’s storming of the Isle of Wight Festival stage an exhilarated Bob Geldof said “It’s weird. I’d forgotten how powerful a band The Rats are!” Others hadn’t. This will be the bands’ first live shows in the US since the late 80’s.
Joining them up on the line up for The Big Session will be two acts with a huge reputation back in their native Ireland.
The Stunning achieved Number 1 positions in Ireland with their first 2 albums, Paradise in the Picturehouse and Once Around the World. Mundy completed a successful US Tour earlier this year that included a performance at The White House on St. Patrick’s Day. Organizers say a further very special guest will be added to the line up for the New York show.
The shows will be hosted by Irish comedy legend Joe Rooney whose TV appearances include Father Ted.
Tickets, priced $48, can be purchased at bit.ly/bigsessionNY for the New York show at Terminal 5 and at bit.ly/bigsessionBOSTON for show at The Royale in Boston.
