Bobby Long Tours October 15th, New Coming Album 2015
SINGER-SONGWRITER BOBBY LONG RESUMES
TOUR SCHEDULE ON OCTOBER 15 IN ATLANTA
Two Special Pre-Holiday Acoustic Shows Set for December
New Album Coming in 2015
British singer-songwriter Bobby Long, who now makes his home in New York, hits the road this week for a series of live appearances, beginning with a return to Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta on Wednesday, October 15. Long will follow the Atlanta show with a “Songwriter in the Round” event at the Melting Point in Athens, GA the next night where he will share the stage with songwriters Gabriel Kelley and Sara Rachele for an evening of original material. Additional stops at the Bottletree in Birmingham (October 19) and The Rutledge in Nashville (October 21) will round out the October shows.
In addition to November shows at The Linda in Albany, New York (November 7) and the Soho Restaurant and Music Bar in Santa Barbara, California (November 16), Long is confirmed for two pre-holiday acoustic shows that will incorporate songs of the season into his set. Those shows will take place on December 17 at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, VA and December 19 at World CafĂ© Live in Philadelphia.
Long’s highly successful crowd-funding campaign over the summer (www.pledgemusic.com/bobbylong) has financed the recording of what will be his third album. He recently completed basic recording in Austin, Texas, helmed by producer Mark Hallman at his Congress House recording studio. Plans are being made for the release of the album early in 2015. His upcoming shows will showcase many of the new songs on the record.
Long, who first emerged by way of London’s folk revival movement and a song he wrote that found its way onto the soundtrack of the first “Twilight” film, has built a strong international following for his poignant, finely-crafted songs. He has made two full-length albums along the way-the critically-acclaimed A WINTER TALE (2011), which paid homage to his acoustic roots, and last year’s more rock-oriented WISHBONE, a harder edged showcase for his sorrow-filled vocals and stellar guitar-playing. He has succeeded handily, as stated in consequenceofsound.com: “Long can sell all the heartbreak and blues guitar because he actually sounds as if he’s weathered enough to be able to talk about it.” The New York Daily News added: “He created songs with a blunt force, using melodies that engage and a voice that’s rife with hunger.”
A consistently engaging performer, Long has toured extensively on his own and as the opener for such diverse artists as Steve Winwood, Iron and Wine, Brett Dennen and Rodrigo y Gabriela as well as appearing at the Bonnaroo, Bamboozle, Dave Matthews Band Caravan and Austin City Limits music festivals. Music Connection Magazine, in a review of his SRO show at The Troubadour in Los Angeles last summer, wrote: “While he is equally adept at singing and playing the guitar, perhaps his greatest asset is his authenticity. In a time when the airwaves are dominated by auto-tune and studio wizardry, Long’s refreshingly organic sound hits listeners’ ears like a breath of fresh air.”
