COUNTRY RAPPER ON TOUR NOW;
SEASON FINALE OF BIG SMO ON A&E THIS WEDNESDAY
Tennessee’s own country rapper Big Smo is celebrating nine consecutive weeks in the Top 10 for his debut album Kuntry Livin’. Holding steady on both Billboard’s Country Albums Chart and Billboard’s Rap Chart, Kuntry Livin’ notably debuted at No. 9 on Country Albums Chart and No. 3 on the Rap Chart upon release and has already sold over 60,000 copies. The Unionville, TN native is currently touring across the country in support of the album expanding his dedicated fan base, affectionately known as his Kinfoke.
“I’m overwhelmed with the positive response to this record from my Kinfoke. I truly feel blessed to hold a position on the charts among such successful country and rap artists,” said Smo. “Being out on the road supporting this record has shown me how much love and support my Kinfoke bring to the table and none of this would be possible without them!”
With over 20 million views on YouTube and selling almost 300,000 total digital tracks to date, Big Smo has developed a sound and genre all his own. Named by Rolling Stone as a “2014 Artist You Should Know,” The New York Times explained, “It’s hard to refute the country bona fides of Big Smo, even if the medium he uses to deliver them isn’t the familiar one.” The country rapper was also praised by Sirius/XM’s Bobby Bones on a recent studio visit, while being touted as a “hick hop hero” by the NY Post.
Workin’, the albums’ focus track, is now being featured on Sirius XM’s On The Horizon, which is The Highway’s outlet for notable new music and artist discovery. Meanwhile, the recent video for “Workin’” has already reached over 3 million views on YouTube alone and sold more than 40,000 digital copies.
Big Smo is getting ready for the season finale of his A&E original series this week, simply titled Big Smo. Shot in Tennessee and produced by Brownstone Entertainment, Big Smo is set to air this Wednesday at 10:30pm / 9:30pm CT; previous episodes can be viewed at A&E online.
