Fresh off the heels of the season 3 finale of his hit reality show, Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia is releasing the remix for “Ol’ Lady” from his album Just Be Free released in June 2014. The Los Angeles based production team, Lazerdisk, remixed the track after meeting the NOLA bounce artist via Twitter.
Returning home recently after wrapping his European tour, Big Freedia is preparing for his summer tour schedule by giving fans new music. About the new musical direction, Freedia explains, “I love what Lazerdisk did with the remix. The melody is amazing and they brought that funk. My fans can expect me to push my art form even more on the upcoming project, but always know NOLA bounce is my main influence.” Future collaborations include Diplo and DJ Snake, bounce music pioneers The Showboys, longtime producer BlaqNMild, and more work with Lazerdisk.
“We’re huge fans of Freedia’s work. We really wanted to give our own original melodic spin on Freedia’s signature vocal sound,” states Lazerdisk, “The songs strong delivery & message made it natural for us to play to our strengths and deliver a big sound.”
Big Freedia has concluded filming season 4 for his reality show on Fuse, which will air in fall 2015. The “Ol’ Lady” (Lazerdisk Remix) is also be available via iTunes. Click here to order.
