“Congo” showcases a nice build-up not like an avalanche, but like all the snow on a hill melted at once to slop down and water a big garden.” -FADER
“Club-ready dance tracks, arena sized atmospherics, and an indie pop sensibility in the songwriting…it’s a pretty great mix and sounds like it will be totally fun live.” – Brooklyn Vegan
It has been a whirlwind year for Vancouver, BC’s electro-dance group, Bear Mountain, since the May 2013 worldwide release of their debut album, XO (Last Gang Records). The band toured relentlessly following the release, performing with Bloc Party, Hot Chip and MS MR among others hitting club and festival stages back and forth across North America. Now, they are excited to share one more piece of XO, with the release of the official music video for Congo (produced in co-operation with MuchFACT), which premiered in Canada on MuchMusic.ca and is also streaming and available to post via YouTube. Along with the video, the band has released a new, extended mix of Congo with is also streaming and available to share via SoundCloud.
“Taking place on a journey through the Canadian wilderness, Congo follows the adventure of 4 people as they ascend from the deep river valleys, to the high mountain alpine of the west coast of British Columbia,” says singer Ian Bevis of the video. Filmed over one year through the rugged and beautiful terrain of BC, the video for Congo blends beautiful imagery with detailed animations, creating a landscape that is both stunning and imaginative.
Bear Mountain is currently putting the finishing touches on their sophomore album, which is slated for release in the spring of 2015. The band will continue to tour Canada and the US around the release, and will hit their hometown this month for the Mad Decent Block Party in Vancouver on September 21st. The band will perform alongside Dillon Francis, Diplo, Flosstradamus, Fatboy Slim and STRFKR. Tickets for the show are available here.
