Bear Hands’ Distraction Yields Agora
BEAR HANDS REVEALS ALTERNATE VIDEO FOR “AGORA”
FROM LATEST FULL-LENGTH DISTRACTION
ANNOUNCES FALL & WINTER TOUR DATES
Today, Bear Hands is revealing an alternate video to “Agora” from the band’s recent full-length Distraction (Cantora). The video, which was directed by Sami Jano and Steve Meierding, playfully incorporates the track’s lyrics into a wildly colorful montage of cluttered items strewn around the home of the titular agoraphobe.
Bear Hands has already had a notably busy year, but even after a tireless tour regimen with stops at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Made in America and more, the band is all but slowing down. The group has now extended their touring season even further with the addition of new dates, beginning on September 5 at the KRBZ Beach Ball in Kansas City, MO and concluding on November 15 at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY. These shows, which feature support from Fences on select dates, include a hometown show at the Bowery Ballroom on October 6. The current list of tour dates is below, with more to be announced soon.
Distraction has been met with praise, with Pretty Much Amazing singling out Distraction cut “Bone Digger” as “just too funky to have come from human hands.” Shortly after the release of Distraction, NPR called them one of the best discoveries of SXSW 2014, lauding their “serious, intricate pop.” Pigeons and Planes praised Distraction’s “bevy of jangling guitars and energetic songwriting,” while Consequence of Sound noted that “no matter the individual song’s components, though, an underlying punk ethos still shines thanks to their insatiable sense of curiosity and their utter creative fearlessness.” Death and Taxes said that Distraction “blends lush guitar textures with irresistible melodies to pleasing effect,” while Alternative Press said “Bear Hands are great… and they’re evolving faster than most of the stuff on your hard drive.”
