BEAR’S DEN’S DEBUT FULL-LENGTH ISLANDS STREAMING IN FULL AT THE NEW YORK TIMES
“ABOVE THE CLOUDS OF POMPEII” VIDEO OUT NOW
NORTH AMERICAN FALL TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
“Bear’s Den write songs as timeless as heartache.”
“… lyrically sincere and emotionally raw songs.”
“…rich harmonies and warm vibe…”
“…reflective…poignant lyrics”
Islands, the debut LP from British trio Bear’s Den, is streaming in its entirety at The New York Times (http://nyti.ms/19UUpB1). The album, due October 21 on Communion Records, is receiving early critical acclaim—NYLON explains, “even though Bear’s Den maintains classic musical values, that doesn’t mean their work is stuck in the past. With a healthy dose of synth, ivory melodies, reversed guitar loops, and strong drumlines, the band is producing a new, infectious post-modern take on folk,” while CMT, who recently premiered the track “Magdalene” (http://bit.ly/1vMR1CC) hails, they’re “the perfect blend of sorrow and strength.”
Furthermore, the video for the album’s single “Above the Clouds of Pompeii” is now streaming worldwide at VEVO (http://po.st/ATCOPVevo) and WFUV chose the track as one of their “Current Favorite Songs.”
Islands was produced by regular collaborator Ian Grimble (Travis, Daughter, Manic Street Preachers) and includes tracks off the band’s 2013 EP Agape (ag-ah’-pay) as well as new, never-before recorded songs. The record was teased in the form of the video for the song “Elysium” which premiered at NPR as a “First Watch” (view here: http://n.pr/1vZddX8). The video has since gone viral, receiving over 400,000 views.
To celebrate the release, the band will embark on a North American tour this fall, including appearances during CMJ Music Marathon in New York City. More details below.
Andrew Davie (vocals, guitar), Joey Haynes (vocals, banjo) and Kevin Jones (vocals, drums) make up Bear’s Den. The London-based trio played music in various incarnations before officially forming the band in 2012. They developed a cult following in their short existence as a result of their writing, harmonies, D.I.Y. approach with custom hand-stamped CDs and extensive worldwide touring. It was only after finding their identity on the road that the band focused their attention on studio recordings.
