Sweden’s most exciting export, AVATAR, have cracked the Billboard Top 200 with their most recent release, Hail the Apocalypse, for the first time in the band’s career. The LP comes in at #97, selling over 3,500 units in its first week of release. “America has become our second home, thank you for embracing our Music!” says frontman Johannes Eckerström.
Second home is right, the band’s current tour with label mate’s POP EVL is only their second visit here in the states and the U.S. has already become the band’s most successful market. |

The news comes on the heels of a buzz-worthy performance this past weekend and the prestigious ROCK ON THE RANGE FESTIVAL in Columbus, OH. Despite the band’s tour bus breaking down hours before their scheduled performance, they made the show happen, playing in front of more than 3,500 onlookers in the pouring rain.
The band released a video for the title track “Hail the Apocalypse” last month that now serves as a one-two punch coupled with the more recent “Bloody Angel” video. Anyone familiar with AVATAR knows their taste for the visual medium with highly successful videos like “Smells Like A Freakshow,” “Torn Apart” and “Black Waltz.” |

Hail the Apocalypse was released last week to much critical acclaim. “Avatar’s sound is fierce, honed, and cathartic enough to have many new fans running away with this circus,” says Revolver Magazine. The full track listing can be found below including a cover of Nirvana’s “Something in the Way.” |
