Billie Holiday Gets Apollo Walk Of Fame Spot

The Apollo Theater in collaboration with Absolutely Live Entertainment will celebrate the 100th birthday of Billie Holiday with presentations honoring the late jazz and blues singer and featuring two-time Grammy winning musician Cassandra Wilson. On Monday, April 6th Billie Holiday will be inducted into the Apollo Walk of Fame, joining other legends honored by the Theater including Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown and its most recent inductee, Louis Armstrong. Musician Cassandra Wilson and Apollo president and CEO Jonelle Procope will present the legendary singer’s Walk of Fame plaque during the ceremony. Accepting the honor on behalf of The Estate Of Billie Holiday, which is managed by The Bicycle Music Company, will be one of its managing partners, Steven Salm. Along with the Walk of Fame ceremony, events honoring the late songstress include the release of Cassandra Wilson’s upcoming Legacy Recordings release, Coming Forth By Day (April 7th) and a special concert, Cassandra Wilson: A Celebration of Billie Holiday, which will mark Wilson’s first time headlining the Apollo (April 10th).

Alabama Shakes Extends Tour, Sound & Color Coming

Alabama Shakes will kick off the second leg of their North American tour on May 28 at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MO. The run will include shows at Hall’s Island in Minneapolis, MN (May 30) and Detroit’s Masonic Temple Theatre (June 3). Opening acts will include Father John Misty (May 28 – June 3), Strand of Oaks (June 9) and Courtney Barnett (June 10).

Humming House Extends Tour

Nashville quintet Humming House has just announced that they will be opening for Kacey Musgraves for a series of shows in TX, AZ, and CA (see tour schedule below). The dates join a run already planned with Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors starting in March, as well as dates with Nora Jane Struthers and the Party Line, Parker Millsap, and labelmates Moonsville Collective. Humming House will be touring to promote their forthcoming third album, Revelries, which is due out March 24th on Nashville label Rock Ridge Music (with distribution via ADA). With interwoven threads of folk, soul, bluegrass and more, Humming House’s acoustic instrumentation – presenting mandolin, fiddle, acoustic guitar, and bass in fresh roles – flips between rousing energy and nuanced presentation, topped off by stunning vocal harmonies.

Acclaimed rockers Stone Sour have announced details of “Meanwhile In Burbank…” a five song record store day exclusive EP featuring covers of legendary artists including Black Sabbath, Metallica, KISS, Judas Priest and Alice In Chains. Recorded live at Room 237 in Burbank, CA, “Meanwhile In Burbank…” will be available on vinyl exclusively at select record stores on April 18th.

John Fogerty Tours For 1969

JOHN FOGERTY’s highly-anticipated world-wide “1969” tour is pleased to announce additional U.S. dates. Beginning May 2nd with a special appearance at the Beale Street Music Festival, the tour will continue to the east coast with stops in North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina before heading south to Florida with shows in St. Augustine, Tampa and W. Palm Beach. FOGERTY’s “1969” continues throughout May, June and July with a previously announced show at the iconic Hollywood Bowl, scheduled for July 15th. Additional summer dates will be announced shortly, with the U.S. portion of the “1969” tour set to conclude in August.

Mumford & Sons Offer Wilder Mind

Mumford & Sons are pleased to announce the details of their forthcoming third album, Wilder Mind. Wilder Mind will be released in North America through Glassnote Records on May 4. It is produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, HAIM, Florence & The Machine). It features twelve new tracks, written collaboratively by the band in London, Brooklyn, and Texas. A number of the new songs were written and demoed at Aaron Dessner’s (The National) garage studios in Brooklyn. The band also returned to Eastcote Studios in London, where they recorded Sigh No More, for further writing and demo sessions. The album was recorded at AIR studios in London.

On the heels of their sold out 2014 tour, superstar siblings Julianne and Derek Hough will team up once again, dancing their way across stages all over the country in their new MOVE LIVE ON TOUR 2015. The pair stopped by Good Morning America to announce MOVE LIVE ON TOUR 2015 which will kick off on June 12th in Phoenix, AZ and hit over 40 cities including stops at the famed Radio City Music Hall in NYC and Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
