Roger Waters’ album AMUSED TO DEATH returns in a remastered release from Columbia Records / Legacy Recordings on July 24th. Amused to Death sounded the alarm about a society increasingly – and unthinkingly – in thrall to its television screens. Twenty-three years later, Amused to Death speaks to our present moment in ways that could scarcely have been anticipated two decades ago.

The exhibit will run from April 22nd until April 28th at Morrison Hotel Gallery, at the Sunset Marquis Hotel. British Subjects will feature exciting work from both Lennon and White, and a selection of other works from acclaimed photographers such as Terry O’Neill and Lawrence Watson among others.
Continue readingAfter many years of performing in a multitude of configurations, Jack White is announcing that he will be taking a break from performing live for a long period of time. To cap off an incredible run of shows promoting his latest album Lazaretto, and following what is shaping up to be a rollicking and fiery pair of headlining performances at this year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival, Jack will embark on a short acoustic tour of the only five states left in the U.S. that he has yet to play. The states these shows are occurring in will be unannounced until the day of the performance. Joining Jack on his jaunt across these locations will be musicians making up an acoustic quartet, including Fats Kaplin, Lillie Mae Rische and Dominic Davis. The shows will be totally acoustic and amplified only with ribbon microphones to the audience as well. These shows will be the very first totally acoustic full concerts Jack White has ever done.

Her latest, The Other Side of Desire (June 23 / The Other Side of Desire Records / Thirty Tigers), was written, recorded and rooted in the city of New Orleans, where Jones lives on the opposite side of the street made famous by the Tennessee Williams play. Produced by John Porter (of Roxy Music) and Mark Howard, Desire is the first new music Jones has written in over a decade.
Continue readingThe Mike + Ruthy Band are getting ready to release new album Bright As You Can on June 2nd via Humble Abode Music/Thirty Tigers, and they have expanded the tour in support of the album, including a run of dates opening for and acting as backing band for Kate Pierson of the B-52’s. One of those shows with Pierson will be an Earth Day celebration this coming Sunday, April 19th in New York City’s Union Square. In addition to their own dates and the newly announced dates with Pierson, The Mike + Ruthy Band will join the likes of The Black Keys, Robert Plant and Alabama Shakes at Mountain Jam, and they’ll be part of a line-up that includes Neko Case, Ani DiFranco and The Lone Bellow at the Clearwater Festival.
