Jukebox The Ghost Expands Debut With Improv

Brooklyn trio Jukebox the Ghost surprised fans this month with the rerelease of their self-titled LP which included a bonus disc of pianist and lead vocalist Ben Thornewill’s reimagining of the songs as improvised piano arrangements. The rerelease celebrates the band’s signing to Cherrytree Records and marks Jukebox the Ghost’s first release on the label. Additionally, the band is pleased to announce that they’ll be joining Ingrid Michaelson all summer on her A Summer Night Out with Ingrid Michaelson Tour. Kicking off this June, the tour hits a number of prestigious venues across the country like LA’s Greek Theater, NYC’s SummerStage at Central Park, and the Chicago Theater. Jukebox the Ghost will also be making a handful of festival appearances this summer at Shaky Knees Festival, Pinelands Music Festival, and more.

Ariel Pink Offers “Jell-O” Video

Pop surrealist Ariel Pink has announced a new batch of tour dates this summer with his 7-piece band for a tour of the UK, Europe and North America. The live stint begins in May with appearances at Levitation (Austin Psych Fest) and Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, and Pitchfork Fest in Chicago.

Five Knives To Bring Savages

Electronic-pop band Five Knives will release their debut album, Savages, on June 2nd via Red Bull Records. The new album, produced by Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons), contains 13 tracks of bombastic, heart-skipping raw electronic bursts wrapped in pop hooks, all delivered with the power and energy of a live band. Five Knives will perform at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on May 5 supporting Dev, and will bring the dance party to the beaches of Gulf Shores, AL when they perform at Hangout Festival on May 15.

Incubus Meets Deftones On Tour

Alternative Rock heroes, Incubus and Deftones, announced today they will set out on a co-headlining summer tour visiting nearly 20 cities throughout the United States with more to be announced. The tour, produced by Live Nation, will kick off on July 22 at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Mich. and take the two bands to New York City, Chicago, Boston, Houston, Dallas and more before wrapping up on August 30 in San Diego, Cali. Death From Above 1979 and The Bots will join the tour as special guests. Tickets go on sale beginning April 24 at www.livenation.com.

Sonny Landreth Brings Bound By The Blues

Mascot Label Group’s Provogue Records will release Sonny Landreth’s new album Bound By The Blues on June 9. The recordings mark a return to the slide guitarist’s musical roots, presenting a bold, big-sounding collection of tracks that swagger like the best of classic rock, climb to stratospheric heights of jazz informed improvisation, and inevitably remain deeply attached to the elemental emotional and compositional structures that are at the historic core of the blues. Landreth offers, “Ever since The Road We’re On [his Grammy-nominated 2003 release], fans have been asking me, ‘When are you going to do another blues album?’ After expanding my songs for Elemental Journey into an orchestral form, I thought I’d get back to the simple but powerful blues form. I’d been playing a lot of these songs on the road with my band, and we’ve been taking them into some surprising places musically. So going into the studio to record them with just our trio seemed like the next step.”

Josh Groban Hits The Stage For Stages

Multi-platinum recording artist Josh Groban has announced that he will launch a Fall 2015 North American tour in support of his upcoming album Stages.
