The Dream Syndicate’s Days Of Wine And Roses Expanded

The Dream Syndicate’s debut album, The Days of Wine and Roses, has long been considered the cornerstone album of L.A.’s early ’80s Paisley Underground scene, from which the band emerged. However, it was more influential than that: along with R.E.M.’s Murmur and the Minutemen’s Double Nickels on the Dime, the release is often considered one of the cornerstone albums of ’80s indie-rock. In a way it is the missing link between the ’60s-influenced R.E.M. and the post-punk Minutemen. Later period bands such as the Pixies and Nirvana were formed out of the sonic ashes that the original Syndicate lineup left behind.

Gregg Allman Launches Laid Back Festival

Gregg Allman, in a joint venture with Live Nation, is excited to announce the inaugural Laid Back Festival. Set to take place on August 29 in New York at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, the one-day event named after Allman’s seminal first solo record from 1973, will feature performances by: Gregg Allman, The Doobie Brothers, Bruce Hornsby and The Noisemakers, Jaimoe’s Jassz Band and City of the Sun. More artists will be announced soon. Besides offering an all-star lineup of great music, Laid Back looks to become a premiere destination for great food and drink as well, with Allman and Live Nation curating over 20 of the finest regional restaurants, wineries and breweries.

NYC’s River To River Festival Coming

Today Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) unveils the 2015 edition of the annual River To River Festival, Downtown NYC’s completely free summer arts festival. This 14th edition takes place June 18–28 and presents a diverse collection of music, dance, theatre and visual art by both renowned and breakout artists from NYC and beyond. The Festival seeks to provide world-class, free summer entertainment and to inspire residents, workers and visitors in the neighborhoods south of Chambers Street by connecting them to the creative process, unique places and each other. For audiences of few to crowds of thousands, River To River provides an intense and rewarding way to experience and discover Lower Manhattan’s waterfronts, parks, plazas and history. This year, the Festival kicks off on June 18 with the R2R Bash, featuring performances by acclaimed East African vocalist Somi. Hank Williams Jr. Signs With Nash Icon

Country legend HANK WILLIAMS, JR. has officially signed to NASH ICON RECORDS, a joint venture label between the Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) and Cumulus. The raucous Superstar joins the distinct voices of Reba, Martina McBride and Ronnie Dunn on the label, which launched in 2014. These four artists combined have sold over 186 million albums worldwide.
