Obey City To Bring Merlot Sounds

In the last 18 months since Brooklyn producer and writer Sam Obey – AKA Obey City released his superlative debut EP Champagne Sounds he hasn’t stopped working. From extensive touring in Europe, the US and Japan (releasing Shochu Sounds EP as a Japan exclusive which topped the Electronic chart on it’s first week) to his true home in studios in LA & NYC. A gifted natural musician Sam has honed his craft at the centre of a new generation of New York singers and rappers writers with tracks for LuckyMe and his own Brooklyn based Astronautico label and numerous cowrites and remixes for the likes of Jensen Sportag, Kelela, Inc and Cornelius.

Dosti Music Project Announces Residency Roster

The Dosti Music Project brings together ten musicians from Pakistan, India, and the U.S. for a month-long (February 23-March 21, 2015) residency and tour. The U.S. Embassy in Pakistan organized and sponsored the program produced by Bang on a Can’s Found Sound Nation, which invites four Pakistanis, four Indians, and two U.S. musicians from a wide variety of traditions, including Sufi singing to electronic beat-making to Appalachian fiddling, to collaboratively write, record, and perform original music, re-invent traditional music, and develop new projects that will make a positive impact on communities locally and internationally. Dosti, which means friendship in both Urdu and Hindi, transcends political barriers through cross-cultural musical collaboration.

SonReal To Tour With Fashawn

“Meet SonReal, Drake’s biggest competition at the JUNO Awards.” That’s how MTV News presented this budding artist in 2014. And just last week, SonReal picked up his second JUNO nomination: “Video Of the Year” for “Preach.” (Canadian equivalent of the GRAMMY Award). This marks SonReal’s third JUNO nomination in three years, solidifying him a new force to be reckoned with.

Radiator King’s “Hardwired” Streams

Somewhere between punk and blues – a porch and an alley – lies Radiator King, the performing/recording name of Boston native and Brooklyn based, Adam Silvestri. Established in 2011, Radiator King’s music shows influences from both Dylan and Strummer with a sound described by Boston blog Allston Pudding as something akin to what “Tom Waits locked in a room for a month with nothing but a copy of Springstein’s Nebraska” might produce. Whether alone with a guitar or backed by a band, Radiator King embodies the raw energy of punk, the grit and intricacy of delta blues, and the lyrical potency of folk in “songs that are the sonic equivalent to an old whiskey bar at the end of a dirt road.”

Rozzi Crane’s Space Coming

Rozzi Crane, the first artist signed to Adam Levine’s label 222 Records, is excited to announce the upcoming release of her new EP, entitled Space via the label. Rozzi’s EP release marks the first artist release for 222 Records/ Interscope Records. In addition, she will be the opening act for all of the North American dates for The Maroon 5 World Tour 2015. The new EP will be available digitally and physically on the tour kick off date, February 16th. 222 Records/ Interscope Records recently received an Oscar nomination for its release of Levine’s “Lost Stars” from the hit movie “Begin Again” (Weinstein).

Larkin Poe Tours With Elvis Costello

Larkin Poe has been tapped to support Elvis Costello on his upcoming U.S. tour. In addition to opening, Larkin Poe’s Rebecca and Megan Lovell will also be backing the iconic artist, as they have done on previous outings with Costello. The latest run kicks off on March 1 at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO. After the U.S. dates with Costello, Larkin Poe will head to Europe for a headline tour.
