Andy Summers – HuffPost 3.26.14

Mike Ragogna: What is your advice for new artists?

Andy Summers: It’s all the clichés. Just do it if you love it. I don’t think you can start trying to meet commercial needs because it’s what you should do. I think you’ve got to do what you really want to do. Otherwise I don’t know if it’s the life for you.

MR: What would you have told Andy Summers when he was beginning?

AS: I would say, “Do what’s in your heart and don’t go away from it.” And I did. I’ve never played for money–I know I’ve got a lot. But it’s the same with me and Rob Giles, we’re doing what we love. I try to tell myself that all the time.
