Andrew Combs Offers “Nothing To Loose”
ANDREW COMBS’ “NOTHING TO LOSE” MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERES AT NPR MUSIC NEW ALBUM ALL THESE DREAMS OUT MARCH 3, PRE-ORDER NOW WINTER TOUR DATES CONFIRMED |
“Combs’s voice is so evocative on All These Dreams, and the settings he creates with his collaborators…are so rich, it’s a damn good thing his lyrics live up to the presentation. This might be the Americana album of 2015.” —NPR Music “…a shimmering, Orbison-like arrangement.” —Rolling Stone Country “Combs is a formidable talent who can swamp-rock it up with the best of them, and follow that with a delicate acoustic ballad, all wrapped in a honeyed, soulful, puppy dog voice that’s as memorable as the melodies.” —American Songwriter The official music video for Andrew Combs’ new song “Nothing to Lose” premiered yesterday at NPR Music and can now be viewed/embedded via YouTube. Of Combs and the video, NPR Music critic Ann Powers praises, “Combs is an impeccable craftsman indebted to not only the troubadour lineage of his native Texas, but to that magical moment at the turn of the 1960s into the 1970s when country, soul, rock and pop balladry all mingled on sophisticated albums by artists as varied as Kris Kristofferson, James Taylor and Phoebe Snow…The video keeps Combs’ music at the center while opening up a flood of associations. It’s a classic performance perfect for right now.” “Nothing to Lose” is from Combs’ forthcoming album All These Dreams, which will be released March 3 on Coin Records/Thirty Tigers (now available to pre-order on iTunes). Already receiving widespread critical attention, Combs was recently selected as one of NPR Music’s “Musicians You’ll Tell Your Friends About In 2015,” while the Boston Globe included him in their “10 bands and solo artists to watch in 2015,” praising “…an elegant singer and songwriter, spinning gold from tales about heartache and redemption and spirituality—all with a tasteful patina of pop and soul.” In celebration of the release, Combs is currently in the midst of a European tour with Justin Townes Earle and, in February, will embark on a series of U.S. shows with The Apache Relay followed by a performance at the 2015 Stagecoach Festival in Indio, CA. See details below. Produced by Jordan Lehning and Skylar Wilson (Caitlin Rose), All These Dreams was recorded in Nashville with many of Combs’ longtime musical collaborators including lead guitarist Jeremy Fetzer and pedal steel guitarist Spencer Cullum Jr. (of the instrumental duo Steelism) as well as bassist Mike Rinne and drummer Ian Fitchuk. Of the new music, Combs shares, “I feel like this record has a much different thread that ties the songs together. All These Dreams explores more complex arrangements, lyrics and musical tones. Spirituality and songwriting kind of go hand-in-hand to me, in the way that I am constantly searching for something bigger and more meaningful. A song like ‘Slow Road to Jesus’ is about finding redemption, but it’s also about coming to terms with taking the long way to get there.” The new album follows Combs’ acclaimed 2012 debut, Worried Man, which American Songwriter gave a 4-star review, writing, “As singer-songwriter first albums go, it’ll be tough to beat this as one of the years finest, from a newcomer who is hopefully just tapping into his talent,” while Southern Living praised, “the Nashville-dwelling, Dallas native is well on his way to becoming a preeminent voice in his genre.” ALL THESE DREAMS TRACK LIST 1.
