Adam Duritz And Ryan Spaulding’s Outlaw Roadshow Returns To NYC
The Outlaw Roadshow Returns to New York this October
The Outlaw Roadshow (theoutlawroadshow.com) founded by the Counting Crows’ Adam Duritz and music blogger Ryan Spaulding (http://rslblog.com) returns to Manhattan on October 23-25 for 3 days of live music at the world famous Bowery Electric. Thousands of music-minded, tech savvy fans have left the Roadshows in New York and Austin with fresh vinyl under their arms, amazing stories, and new music in their hearts. Once again, the Roadshow is being presented by Squarespace, the New York-based, all in one website publishing platform that makes it easy for anyone to give a voice to their ideas online.
“For the second year in a row, Squarespace is proud to support independent music and musicians as the presenting sponsor of the Outlaw Roadshow,” said Squarespace Events Manager Jessica Kausen.
“With the Outlaw, surprises and fun are the order of the day,” says Executive Producer Ryan Spaulding. “One of the things I like best about working with Adam and our sponsors is that they are courageous partners of emerging music and expression. With the Outlaw Roadshow, everyone’s heart is in the right place.”
Duritz and Spaulding met during a press interview in 2008 as Counting Crows were about to release their Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings album. A fifteen minute Q&A lasted about two hours. The two talked about just everything under the sun that day and continue to do so on a regular basis. They vowed to find a way to collaborate. It wouldn’t be long as Spaulding launched a festival-style showcase independent and apart from those from his peers. The shows were designed to be free to the public to increase the level of discovery. There would be surprises along the way and The Outlaw Roadshow was born. Even more were impacted in 2012 as Counting Crows took The Outlaw Roadshow on a full-blown US tour.
“I never enjoy myself as thoroughly anywhere else as I do during The Outlaw Roadshow. I wish everyone could experience the kind of jazz we get into every single time. Honestly, it is without a doubt my favorite time of the year.” Adam Duritz, Counting Crows
Artists who play The Outlaw Roadshow lovingly refer to themselves as ‘Outlaws’ long after each event has wrapped. This year’s Outlaw Roadshow lineup includes: Hallelujah The Hills, Tigerman WOAH, Filligar, Lily & The Parlour Tricks, Mean Creek, Christian MacNeil & Seamonsters, Hollis Brown, Tallahassee, Boom Forest, The Silks, Air Traffic Controller, Archie Powell & The Exports, Golden Bloom, K Phillips, Goddamn Draculas, OldJack, Dan Blakeslee, Matt Sucich, Christopher Paul Stelling, Bailiff, Le Roxy Pro, The Feed, The Grownup Noise, Nakia, Corin Ashley, Alan Semerdjian, The Longwalls, Nate Leavitt, and Doctor Gasp.
“Someday, down the road, people are going to look at the lineups featured on the posters and they will be astounded that all these acts played together on the same stages,” said Spaulding. “And that’s insanely fun.”
The world-famous Bowery Electric (http://www.theboweryelectric.com/) is located at 327 Bowery, New York, NY 10003. The event is 21+ and limited to legal club capacity.
