“Go,” the lead single from The Chemical Brothers’ new album, Born In The Echoes, is out today. The track features A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip, whom they collaborated with on the GRAMMY® award-winning single “Galvanize.” “Go” sees The Chemical Brothers at their effortless best, juxtaposing Q-Tip’s hyperactive verses against a relentless bassline before exploding into a euphoric, synth-laden chorus. The single debuted last night on BBC Radio 1 as Annie Mac’s “Hottest Record in the World.”
The official video for “Go,” which just premiered on VEVO, was directed by Academy Award-winning French filmmaker Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep, The Green Hornet) in a rare return to short-form music videos. Gondry lensed The Chemical Brothers’ acclaimed “Star Guitar” and “Let Forever Be” videos. The “Go” clip, which can be seen HERE, centers on a human locomotive, reflecting the propulsive nature of the song.
Born In The Echoes, The Chemical Brothers’ first studio album in five years, will be released on Friday, July 17, via Astralwerks in the U.S. The album pre-order is underway now. Beginning today, fans who pre-order Born In The Echoes digitally will instantly receive “Go” in addition to “Sometimes I Feel So Deserted.” The Chemical Brothers gave fans a first taste of the album last week with this visualizer for “Sometimes I Feel So Deserted.” The track had one million streams in just four days and hit No. 1 on the trending Shazam chart.
On the dark, powerful and emotional Born In The Echoes, the influential U.K. based duo – comprising Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons – push their music as far as it will go, obliterating genre boundaries as they have from the start, beginning with 1995’s Exit Planet Dust. Q-Tip is just one of a stellar cast of collaborators who joined The Chemical Brothers on the new album. Ali Love (“EML Ritual”), St. Vincent (“Under Neon Lights”), Cate Le Bon (“Born In The Echoes”) and Beck (“Wide Open” – his first new music since his GRAMMY-winning album Morning Phase) also feature.
U.S. fans can look forward to headline performances by The Chemical Brothers at Southern California’s HARD Summer Music Festival on August 1 and New York City’s Electric Zoo over Labor Day weekend (September 4, 5 & 6). International festival performances will include Sonar, Glastonbury and Bestival.
The Chemical Brothers have sold 12 million albums and six million singles worldwide. They have had five No. 1 albums in the U.K. and were the first electronic act ever to receive a GRAMMY, winning in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category for “Block Rockin’ Beats” – the first of their four GRAMMY wins. The song, which appeared on 1997’s RIAA Gold-certified album Dig Your Own Hole, was the first track by an electronic artist to chart at Alternative radio, where The Chemical Brothers continue to receive strong support. The duo recentlycollaborated with Lorde and Miguel on “This is Not a Game,” the lead single from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay soundtrack.
