GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist Nate Ruess is set for a wide range of activity surrounding the release of his eagerly anticipated debut solo album. “GRAND ROMANTIC” – which features the hit single “Nothing Without Love” – arrives via Fueled By Ramen on June 16th.
Today Ruess revealed “Great Big Storm,” a new track from “GRAND ROMANTIC,” and the third that he has unveiled, following the first single “Nothing Without Love” and “AhHa” (visit http://smarturl.it/greatbigstormsc to stream “Great Big Storm”).
“Nothing Without Love” is an unqualified multi-format success, now climbing Billboard’s “Hot 100” while standing tall among the top 10 on Billboard’s “Hot Rock Songs” chart. In addition, the song’s companion video – directed by Anthony Mandler (fun., Rihanna, Taylor Swift) – has earned more than 3.6 million cumulative online views.
Named by VH1 as their “You Oughta Know” artist for the month of May, Ruess will celebrate “GRAND ROMANTIC” with a string of high profile TV appearances, getting underway tonight with a performance of “Nothing Without Love” on NBC’s The Voice (check local listings). Tomorrow, May 12th, will then see Ruess visit NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a very special performance backed by The Roots. Furthermore, Ruess has scheduled a number of other appearances, including NBC’s TODAY “Toyota Summer Concert Series” – broadcast live from New York’s Rockefeller Center – on June 19th and an outdoor concert performance of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! slated for June 25th.
Ruess – who is of course known around the globe as the singer/songwriter of indie pop supergroup fun. – will further introduce “GRAND ROMANTIC” with a number of major international concert events. Highlights include sold-out headline performances at London’s Wilton’s Music Hall on June 10th, New York City’s Webster Hall on June 17th and Los Angeles’ brand new Teragram Ballroom on June 24th, plus top-billed appearances at such festivals as Minneapolis’s Basilica Block Party (July 10th), Denver’s 93.3 KTCL’s Big Gig (July 11th), Philadelphia’s Radio 104.5 WRFF Summer Block Party Series (July 12th), and San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival (August 9th). As if that weren’t enough, May 30th will see HBO premiere “The 30th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,” filmed last month at Cleveland’s Public Hall and highlighted by Ruess and Beck’s stunning version of Lou Reed’s “Satellite of Love.” The upcoming appearances follow Ruess’s recent “key advisor” role on NBC’s The Voice as well as the live TV debut of “Nothing Without Love” on March’s iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Last but certainly not least, Ruess will be honored with the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s prestigious “Hal David Starlight Award,” established to honor gifted songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs. Past awardees include 2014 honoree Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds, Taylor Swift, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Drake, Benny Blanco, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Rob Thomas, and John Rzeznik. The 2015 Songwriters Hall of Fame Annual Induction and Awards Dinner will be held Thursday, June 18th in New York City.
