Kali Uchis’ “Rush” Video Bows
KALI UCHIS’ “RUSH” VIDEO DEBUTS VIA THE FADER
POR VIDA OUT NOW
TOURING THIS SPRING
“Rush,” the new video from singer, songwriter and producer Kali Uchis, debuts today via The FADER, watch it here. FADER calls the video, directed by Uchis and creative duo WIISSA, “far-out,” noting, “she channels Death Proof for a hazy romp along the highway in muscle cars and rollerblades.” The track is taken from Uchis’ Por Vida, self-released earlier this year and available via kaliuchis.com.
Uchis recently made surprise appearances at Coachella with collaborators Tyler, The Creator and Kaytranada, and played several shows in New York including a sold out headline date at Baby’s All Right. Uchis will play further shows this spring and summer, with dates at Mexico’s Ceremonia Festival, the U.K.’s Great Escape and two sold-out London shows. Additionally, Uchis will play this year’s Austin City Limits in October.
Uchis wrote each of the nine tracks on Por Vida and collaborated on production on the new release with Tyler, The Creator, Kaytranada, BADBADNOTGOOD and more. Watch the trailer for Por Vida here and watch the video for the release’s lead track “Know What I Want” here.
21-year-old Uchis was born and raised in Colombia and is now based in Alexandria, VA and Los Angeles. After writing, producing, recording and releasing her 2013 mixtape Drunken Babble in 48 hours, Uchis caught the attention of the likes of Snoop Dogg and Tyler, The Creator. In the months since, Uchis’ collaborations have resulted in Por Vida and the evolution of her signature sound, something she calls “lowrider soul.”
