Jon Pousette-Dart’s Talk Revealed

JON POUSETTE-DART RELEASES 10TH ALBUM – TALK

New album featuring all-star cast of players and songwriters due out July 24

“The thing I’m most concerned with as a musician is to be timeless and real,” notes lauded folk rock singer-songwriter Jon Pousette-Dart upon the release of his latest album Talk.

Pousette-Dart has been creating music for four decades strong now, from his ‘70s days leading the Pousette-Dart Band — one of the busiest touring groups of the era, sharing stages with countless legendary artists ranging from the Byrds to Jerry Garcia, to Billy Joel and Yes, and the infamous Frampton Comes Alive tour – all the way to his solo work in the ‘90s and beyond, where he has written and performed with numerous luminaries on the American music scene. Needless to say, the execution of timeless music is a feat he well knows the value of.

“I want to tell stories that reflect ideals that don’t just go and change with the moment,” he explains, adding that his work on Talk is an example of how a collection of songs can reference the past yet still sound current.

Indeed, his 10th album is a perfect synopsis of the flexibility of memory when it meets the present moment. “Talk is really about having a cohesive body of songs,” notes Pousette-Dart. “Since I walked in the doors of Quadrophonic studios in the early ‘70s to work with Norbert Putnam on the tail of Dobie Gray’s single ‘Drift Away’ it was a long nagging desire for a number of decades to write a body of songs to record with Reggie Young — adding his unique stamp on the guitar, as he is up at the top of the list of my primary influences.”

Talk not only features Young on guitar, but also employs such talents as bluegrass giant Rhonda Vincent, singers Bekka Bramlett and Jonnell Mosser, musicians Dan Dugmore and Clayton Ivey, and many other iconic players. Jon collaborated on this album writing greats such as John Oates, Kostas, Angela Kaset and Gary Nicholson. The set was produced by Bil VornDick, one of the brightest and most prolific producers in Nashville history, and recorded at Ronnie’s Place in Nashville, the city being Pousette-Dart’s home base for his catalog of solo work.

How did Pousette-Dart assemble such a stellar cast for his latest project? The answer is simple: he’s known for his genuine spirit, passion for others, and honesty in his music – as well as a humble admiration for the many talented friends he’s made along the way.

“The heart and soul of the players from Memphis, Muscle Shoals and Nashville that make up this record made it a very special moment in time for me,” says Pousette-Dart. “I am extremely fortunate to be in this rollercoaster business after all these years. I hope the tracks stand the test of time.”

The Pousette-Dart Band has been actively touring for 17 years.  Talk will be released July 24, 2015 on Little Big Deal Records, distributed by BFD/Sony RED.
