 U.S. TOUR DATES CONFIRMED

“Oklahoma native plays timeless, forward-thinking rock & roll”—Rolling Stone

“…bringing some of the purest rock ‘n’ roll vibes straight from the genre’s birth and into the present day.”—Esquire

“…pure-and-simple party music, make-out music and get-down-and-shake-it music, harbouring the sort of simple riffs and hooks that easily hop across the decades.”—BBC

“He’s influenced by all sorts of things from all different worlds. But when he ingests it, it sort of comes out like this bastard child of Little Richard. This cat JD McPherson is just the real deal. It’s totally for real. And I think to myself, where has this been my whole life?”—Josh Homme, Queens of the Stone Age

JD McPherson’s new song, “Let The Good Times Roll,” premiered today at The Wall Street Journal and can now be heard/shared via SoundCloud. The song is the title track to McPherson’s highly anticipated new album, which will be released February 10 on Rounder Records. Already receiving widespread critical acclaim, the album was recently included in World Café’s 2015 Music Preview. Of the music, Ann Powers praises, “There are people who imitate and people who work within that genre…that become original. And I really think that JD is doing that with his band…” Additionally, of the new song “Bossy,” The Huffington Post praises “…he shows new growth, blending breakneck blues with modern indie cues to hang a tonal tightrope that’s a pleasure to watch him walk.”

In advance of the release, McPherson and his longtime band—Jimmy Sutton (upright bass), Jason Smay (drums), Ray Jacildo (keys) and Doug Corcoran (saxophone, guitar, keys)—will embark on a worldwide tour this winter including a series of newly confirmed U.S. shows in February and March. See below for complete details. In celebration of the tour, the newest episode of “Time Well Spent With People Worth Knowing” featuring a cover of “How Insensitive” with Nikki Lane recently premiered at Paste.

Produced by Mark Neill (The Black Keys’ Brothers, Old 97s, Los Straitjackets) along with McPherson, Let The Good Times Roll was recorded at Soil of the South Studio in Valdosta, GA. Additional recording was done with Alex Hall at HiStyle Studio in Chicago, IL and Michael Trepagnier at 3CG Studio in Tulsa, OK. McPherson also co-wrote the song “Bridge Builder” with Dan Auerbach. Of the new album, McPherson comments, “Much of the new song material was asking for a different sonic treatment. I was thinking of these big, bombastic sounds; lots of guitars, tons of percussion; plate reverb.”

This new music follows McPherson’s widely praised 2012 debut, Signs and Signifiers, which KEXP described as, “…a scorching rock ‘n’ roll record that sounds like it could have been recorded in the ‘50s without seeming retro. Engineered to restore your faith in rock ‘n’ roll, it’ll have you involuntarily snapping your fingers and bobbing your head” and MOJO magazine called it, “…an utterly irresistible, slicked-back triumph.” Additionally, surrounding Signs and Signifiers, McPherson was selected as a Rolling Stone “Artist to Watch,” an NPR Music “Artist You Should Know” and a WXPN “Artist to Watch.” He was also awarded “Best Rock/Hard Rock Album” at the 2012 Independent Music Awards.
